Our Y5/6 pupils cooked s’mores and had fun in the sun with bubble wands.
Other classes baked cookies and delivered them to a local nursing home, decorated plant pots for parents and visited a care home to discuss holidays from the past.
First Aid
On Friday 28th April, Years 4 and 6 took part in a fun, interactive and hands on First Aid Course with Jonathan Cunningham MBE. Jonathan is a First Aid Responder for the North West Ambulance Service and offered to lead First Aid training, in lieu of a donation to the Southport Lifeboat Trust.
Throughout the afternoon children learned how to treat cuts and wounds. tend to burns and scolds, help someone who is choking, see how to administer an epipen and how to perform CPR. Children practised performing CPR and choking first aid on the dummies, before using the bandages to treat each other!
The key things we need to check when treating a casualty are:
1. The ‘in and out’ – breathing (has anything gone in that needs to come out).
2. The ’round and round’ – circulation. Is the blood pumping round or pumping out somewhere?
3. Danger – is it safe to help the casualty? Call 999 for help.
